The rods are made by one of the few artisans in Sabae who still uses the &#8220;SHINBARI&#8221; technique of splitting the rods into two pieces and attaching a metal core between the two pieces of acetate. The core of the rods is hand carved by Sabae artisans using a traditional Japanese design.
